    影片讲叙了一种新的治疗方法出现了，X战警们面临两个选择：一个是继续维持他们的“变种基因”，虽被人类孤立但有着超凡能力，二是放弃超能力变回普通人。他们将如何抉择呢？
　　同时也有一些新的变种人登场，比如“野兽”和“天使”：“野兽”的父亲莫顿因在核电站工作时遇核幅射而改变了基因，接着剩下变种小孩“野兽”。和大多数变种人不同，“野兽”从小就出现了异状———他的手脚都异常的大。长大后，混身蓝毛……“天使”出生时是普通孩子，然而在高中的时候突然在背上长出翅膀来，还能用翅膀飞行。后来“天使”和“野兽”被X教授召到“X战警”的行列。
　　“野兽”的父亲莫顿在一家核电站工作，一次工作时暴露在大量的核幅射中。莫顿虽然没有受伤，然而他的基因 却改变了。于是他生下了一个变种小孩“野兽”迈克柯伊。和大多数变种人不同，“野兽”从小就出现了异状—他的手脚都异常的大。长大后，混身蓝毛的“野兽”表现出了超人的力量，可以提起一吨重的东西，并且拥有难以想像的速度和灵活性，在橄榄球场上表现出色。一个犯罪头子绑架了”野兽“的父母，想要让“他”为自己服务，X战警的领袖“X教授”解救了他，并把他召到正义的队伍中来。“野兽”的扮演者名叫凯尔西·格拉莫，格拉莫表示这部电影吸引他是因为“《X战警》系列中的变种人总是社会的局外人”
